Here is a little more about me and my motivations for this blog.
Welcome to my Blog The Bookishly Glamorous!! Wow, I’m super excited!! And here you are wandering, but what is The Bookishly Glamorous??
This is my new project, my new baby. WOW even myself, I find it hard to believe that I am realizing a childhood dream: Writing. And today, I’m starting to get the ball rolling with this project. Exciting isn’t it? I will explain a little bit more of how I came up with the idea of the blog’s name:
Bookishly: Ever since I was little, I’ve been passionate about books and writing. I remember that I wrote stories and I read them to my great-uncle (brother of my grandmother) who was my favorite public, my fanclub (quite one of the only ones I had and I saw him rarely, just when we went to see my Grandmother’s family in Quebec lol). He always encouraged me with my project, thought that everything I wrote was good and motivated me to continue to become a writer ahahaha! Not too objective Arthur! I also wrote plays and staged them with my friends. We had a lot of fun. I was able to put this into practice for real when I taught Drama at a College for several years. But let’s get back on topic … With my friends, we even performed musicals, like Grease, plus we did our performances for free, in someone’s backyard ahah. Then, as a teenager, I tried poetry, I can tell you that it was not that good, poetry of a weeping teenager’s heartbreak ahahaha! After a big break, I started writing again during the difficult periods of my life (divorce, illness and death of my dad), the words were pouring out. I started novels, which I never finished. ☹ You never know, maybe one day, stay tuned… I might share some of it here later.
Glamorous: The adage “The apple never falls far from the tree” really makes sense here I guess. I guess that this is also why I love little beauty cream jars, Make Up and fashion. It comes from my Mamma. My mother has always been very pretty and stylish, and when she was getting ready to go to work, I would sit on the bathroom counter and watch her do her make-up, or when she was getting ready to go to parties, she would dress up, I was hypnotized by her and thought that she looked like a princess, with her hairstyles. My mother and her perfume Anaïs Anaïs by Cacharel ahhhh, I asked her to put it on me too, yuck 😊
We’re still on the Glamorous subject here hihi: The love of travel and escape also comes from my parents. At home, when I was young, we went on trips every 2 summers to the USA, in our big blue Chrysler with the 8 tracks (now you can bet on my age better!) And we listened to Roger Whittaker, we sang loudly “An elephant on my balcony …” (or maybe it was just me?) and Joe Dassin, without air conditioning, that goes without saying. 3 girls in the back seat who were constantly asking are-we-there-yet-we-are-hot, on-a-plaintive-way. My urge to escape for a getaway or a vacation is hitting the fan right now let me tell you!
In this time of COVID, as I have a little more time, I saw it as a sign and said to myself: it’s now or never, so I decided to embark on this adventure.
So The Bookishly Glamorous, what is it going to talk about?
– Books (Bookishly): I will write summaries, tell you about the books I have read, those on my TBR pile (and believe me it’s BIG), those that I impatiently await the delivery by looking out the window if the truck is arriving, and the ones I’m reading (well yes, I read more than one at a time) ahah!
– Glamorous: Make Up, tips and trends, accompanied by videos and tutorials. I would prefer to film myself doing make-up on nice guinea pigs than to use my face but hey, with me, what you see is what you get so I will also serve as a guinea pig to show you, Non-Millennials, how to apply certain products without looking like a clown face or a disco ball, with real skin pores showing, dark circles and puffy eyes. It’s meant to be unpretentious, no filters (no botox or plumped up lips), just great ideas to help and inspire you, I hope.
– Travel Diaries: trips I have done, places I dream of going, those on my bucket list, those that are constantly in my head, my taste for adventure and exile.
– And many other interesting things.
Who is it for?
FOR EVERYONE, yes yes even for you too guys, since I won’t just talk about little beauty jars.

BTW: Please bare with me, French is my mother tongue, I wrote my blog 1st in French, and tried to translate it the best I could, but it’s hard to keep the same style (what makes me unique in French) in another language. Hope you will enjoy it anyway!
Merci beaucoup Annie 🙂
I love it. It,s very orginal and you can do so much with this. Tips on some cute travel makeup especially living by the ocean 🙂
Thank you so much for your comment and suggestion Nickola. I am taking it into consideration and will definitely write a post about this in the near future. I am finishing to organize everything in my room ( mirrors, lighting). This is a great idea, thank you 🙂
Bien hâte de te suivre et de lire tes textes colorés, positifs et inspirants! Celui-ci nous remplit de nostalgie et nous plonge dans nos souvenirs d’enfance. Bravo pour ce projet créatif!
