SYNOPSIS:

“Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can’t seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a “take me home” look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker’s owner reaches out. He’s a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.

Well, Sloan’s not about to give up her dog without a fight. But what if this Jason guy really loves Tucker? As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can’t deny a connection. Jason is hot and nice and funny. There’s no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?”

You can’t control the bad things that happen to you. All you can do is decide how much of you you’re going to let them take.

This talked to me.

MY REVIEW:

This Is a new release (I ordered it online from Indigo)

Read in 2 days, easy summer read with a lot of clichés I must admit, let’s say that I often rolled my eyes and found the plot obvious!  In 3/4 of the story I would say, argghh a little too much melodrama for my taste, unnecessary, in my opinion.  I felt like shaking and kicking the hell out of Jason’s ass.

Like I said, sometimes a bit far-fetched, especially the very beginning of the novel, when the dog (Tucker), whom she rescues from an impending accident on the highway in big traffic jam, jumps in her car through the sunroof !! Really? Ahahah so there was my first “rolling the eye”. But with what Jason says to Sloan later in the novel, which is reealllyy cute, well all was forgiven.

Tucker knew it. He took one look and he saw the other half of me inside of you and he brought you home.

But hey, all in all, I’m very happy I sticked to it because it’s a really a nice  beach read or patio, it would be more appropriate to say that now ahah, it’s not soon that we’ll be going to the beach so it looks like ☹, for me anyway, living in Montreal and not being able to travel.  So, beautiful little love story, the kind we girls like! And the end is something! Moving. I Was nearly crying ahahaha! Really…. I’m so cheesy.

Why this title? Each chapter starts with the title of a song, which I loved !!!  So make yourself a drink, grab with your cell and your headphones, because like me, you’re going to want to listen to the songs before you start reading the chapters to get into the mood of the story. It works. After that? Well, I created the same playlist on my Apple music to listen to it A LOT! I have been OBSESSED with this playlist since I read the book.  I listen to it over and over! You’ll find songs by groups like Paramore, The Smiths, Goo Goo Dolls, Vance Joy, Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Billie Eilish…..You get it now?

By the same author, Abby Jimenez: The Friend Zone.

What I’m currently reading: The Henna Artist….stay tuned for my next book review.

Enjoy the reading and please leave me a comment 😊.
